Flaming June?

Here's our regular round-up of what our members will be up to over the coming month. June is always a busy month, so let's hope the good weather returns.

Alison Carthy
will be exhibiting at the Platform Gallery in Clithero, running until the middle of July.

Sheila Spencer
will be exhibiting at "All Creatures Great and Small" in Water Street Gallery, Todmorden from 1st June - 1st July.

Also running from 1st June-1st of July,  Catherine Highman has work in the  "Urban" exhibition at Cupola Gallery, Sheffield.

URBAN is "a group exhibition of works across all media -painting, sculpture,  printmaking, photography, textiles, ceramics, glass and jewellry. A diverse collection that says something about how artists are still very much inspired by our urban environment and by ‘urban culture’ – whatever that is...."

The exhibition opens this Friday evening (1st June) from 7.30pm onwards.

Rachel Poole and Ann Parkin are participating in Derbyshire Open Arts 2012.

Rachel will be at Tansley  Village Hall, Tansley, Matlock from 2nd - 5th of June.  Ann is exhibiting with Alive and Stitching at the Art Room, Greenways, Barlow, Chesterfield (they continue through to the 10th June).  Ann tells us that "the Art Room is set in a 3 acre wild flower meadow.  Lots of brilliant art work and beautiful hand crafted work inside and photo opportunities outside from this Saturday and all next week!"

2nd June also heralds the first Penistone Artisan Fair to be held in the Cruck Barn, Penistone.  Sheila Spencer and Sue Evans are exhibiting.

Sue Evans will also be exhibiting at the new Creation Fine Arts gallery in Beverly, opening 4th June.
Amy Jones will be at a pop up exhibition / auction at Holmfirth Art Market on Saturday 23rd June from 6:30pm. The auction has a "Best of British" theme. She has created a drawing especially for the auction, which is called 'Mule Ewe' *.

Great Sheffield Art Show runs from 29th June to 1st July.  Jackie Prachek and Rachel Poole are exhibiting.

* The Mule is a recognised and widely regarded cross between two traditional British breeds of sheep: the Bluefaced Leicester (a lowland breed that originates from Northumberland) and the Swaledale (an upland breed named after the Yorkshire valley of Swaledale). This cross creates a hardy animal with natural mothering instincts that rears a good number of healthy sized lambs. By combining the finest characteristics from two native sheep in one ewe the Mule could be considered the best of British. So now you know!

Our second new member this year is Amy Jones.  We were hugely impressed by Amy's work, especially the way that she brings such vitality to her drawings of local livestock.
