Artist's Statement

Born in Sheffield I studied fine art and animation at degree level.
I have worked freelance since the 80’s, beginning as a cartoonist and representing England at the World Comics Convention in Angouleme in 1992.

I began painting in 2006, my subject matter being natural history, landscape and portraiture, often with a narrative.  The technique is a mix of aboriginal and Pictish dot style.  Designs come directly from observations of animal and human behaviour and the living landscape.
