                                                        Thinking about joining us?

                                                        Please ask yourself these questions:
                                                        • Is your work original and creative? Do you practise through using a creative process, can this be demonstrated verbally, through sketch books or through the finished piece? How do you develop ideas and  respond to stimulus?
                                                        • What level of craftsmanship / artistry do you have? Do you work using materials that you have manipulated, in a creative way?
                                                        • Would your work look out of place in a quality gallery?  Could you produce work for an exhibition in response to, for example, a predetermined theme?
                                                        • Would your work complement that of other members?

                                                        How to Apply

Applications will be considered in February/March of each year.  Please send your application by the end of December.

Send a brief written summary about you and your work, plus three images of your work, either as hard copies or a CD by post or in person, or by email.  Images should be in PDF, JPEG or TIFF format.

Your name and contact details should be clearly written and enclosed if you are applying by post so that your images can be returned to you.

If you cannot hand your application to a member of Pennine Artists you have met then please send  to: Mandy Smith, Chair - Pennine Artists, 155 Manchester Road, Thurlstone, Sheffield, S36 9QS or e-mail: mandy.smith1@btinternet.com

                                                        The Review Process

Your application will be reviewed by members at the next monthly meeting, usually in February and July.  You will then be contacted by letter/ email and, in most cases, you will be invited to an interview with a panel of three or four members of the group to discuss your work.

At the interview, the panel will be assessing you and your work against the criteria above.  We emphasise that while high quality craftmanship is important, we will be equally concerned for you to demonstrate a sound creative capability.  We understand that your approach may be highly individual, so make no pre-judgements on what we expect.

We will also be concerned to establish that your work will be sufficiently different from that of other members, especially where we already have several members working in a similar discipline/medium.

This will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions too about the group.

At the next  group meeting, the members you were in contact with will feed back to the rest of the group and a decision will be made as to whether a partnership is suitable and appropriate.  Thereafter  you will be contacted again, by letter / email.

                                                        What is the Cost?

All new members pay a one off joining fee of £30, as well as the annual membership subscription of £15.

There is an expectation that you will be an active member and come to the monthly meetings whenever possible.
